> Stop Fat Talk!

Yes, that means body bashing with your friends, complaning about how "ugly" or "fat" you feel, or looking into the mirror picking yourself apart. You would never say that stuff to your friends, so don't say it to yourself! For the next week, try one thing: Be nicer to yourself! Treat yourself and your body like your friend, only say stuff to yourself or about yourself that you would say to your BFF. It's not always easy to totally change your thought pattern (in fact, most experts say it takes one whole month to make new habits stick), but if you are having trouble keeping your body snarking at bay, wear a rubber band on your wrist and snap it when you are decending into the body blues. I guarantee it will help! And while you are at it, get your friends involved - support and encourage each other to be okay with yourselves and your bodies.

> Do more of what makes you feel good and less of what makes you feel bad!

Sounds simple - I know, but how many of us actually do it? For instance, 75% of teen girls say that they feel bad about themselves after reading fashion magazines, yet they make up over 60% of the average teen's reading. If thats you, your task this week is to skip 'em - or whatever else makes you feel bad! Maybe watching the girls on TV makes you feel bad, or hanging out with a certain group of girls. Replace those activities with stuff that makes you feel great (or better at least!). Go for a walk with your mom, volunteer, play with your dog, write, etc! Think about your good and bad body image triggers, and make a point to do less - much less - of what makes you feel bad. Deal?
